Cloud & API

Cloud transcription and AI editing use third-party AI providers. You can use your own keys (BYOK) or let Sonera manage them (Premium).

Supported Providers

Transcription

• Groq — Fastest, generous free tier. Recommended for most users.
• OpenAI Whisper — Highest quality, pay-per-use.

AI Editing

• OpenAI GPT — Reliable, widely used
• Anthropic Claude — Excellent for long-form text
• Google Gemini — Fast, competitive pricing

BYOK Setup

1. Purchase the BYOK unlock ($5 one-time) from the pricing page
2. Create API keys at your chosen providers (many offer free tiers)
3. Add keys in Settings → API Keys
4. Select your preferred provider in Settings

API Key Security

Your API keys are encrypted at rest and in transit. They are only sent to the respective provider when you make a request. Sonera staff cannot read your API keys.

Usage & Costs

With BYOK, you pay the API providers directly based on usage. Groq offers a generous free tier that covers most personal use cases. OpenAI charges per minute of audio transcribed.
